A Gabbeh Shuli rug. No-139916 (225x109cm)

This is an old tribal rug from the village of Shul which is the winter camp of Qashghai nomads of the same name. These weavers make their rugs from the undyed wool that they get from their sheep. Such rugs have relatively large but very tight Turkish knots that create a beautiful texture. The weavers create the designs spontaneously as they weave their rugs based on their personal tastes and interpretations of the traditional patterns.
