A Sari Silk handmade Rug

This piece is a colourful rug that would brighten up any space with vibrant and contrasting colours. The weavers in Uttar Pradesh in northern India weave such rugs using the excess yarn from the sari industry; thus, they are known as the "Sari Silk Rugs". The weaver decides on the placement of colours and the design spontaneously during weaving. Such practice makes these rugs unique and far from the mass-produced rugs that weavers make to the order of western clients. 

The vibrancy and exuberance that this rug radiates results from the freedom with which the weaver reflects his emotions and traditional love of colours.
