This exquisite Gabbeh depicts a stylised pomegranate tree, deeply rooted in Persian symbolism and mythology. Beyond its visual charm, the pomegranate holds sacred meaning in Zoroastrian tradition—as the fruit that rendered Esfandiar, the legendary hero of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, invincible. In this context, the tree becomes not only a symbol of fertility and abundance, but of divine protection and heroic endurance.
Handwoven by Qashqai weavers, the rug is crafted using handspun wool and natural dyes sourced from plants and minerals gathered during nomadic migrations. The earthy ground, reminiscent of the Zagros landscape, frames the vivid fruits with soft, organic transitions—tones that will mellow beautifully over time.
