This vintage Persian carpet is from the city of Soltanabad. The town changed its name to Arak in 1938.
The carpets here belong to a group of rugs made under the influence of the British company Ziglar and Co, who worked there from mid 19th to early 20th century and produced carpets primarily designed for western markets. Thus the name Soltanabad.
The lack of a medallion and its uniform pattern and aged colours make this carpet one that could match many different settings and contribute significantly to any interior space.
