A Kerman handmade rug No. 62177

This fantastic piece from Kerman demonstrates an elegant medallion surrounded by ornamental motives and ancient symbols such as paisley and cypress trees. The mandala medallion in the centre is most notable and represents harmony and unity.

Making such an intricate design requires months of hard work by a talented designer who draws the design on graph paper in which every square represents a knot with the corresponding colour and a team of craftsmen who spin and dye the wool and warp the loom.

After preparing the design and material, two master-weavers have made this amazing piece in about a year and a half by painstakingly making over five million knots.
