Wool on a wool base
This Gabbeh rug is handwoven entirely from memory by a nomadic Qashqai girl, inspired by the natural landscape stretching from the valleys of Mount Zagros to the shores of the Persian Gulf, lands through which she and her family move in constant search of grazing grounds for their herds.
Using wool from their own sheep and dyeing it in small batches with herbs and roots gathered along the way, she creates a rug that is both deeply personal and instinctively beautiful.
These pieces are sincere expressions of imaginative minds and one of the oldest surviving forms of art, rooted in memory, landscape, and a way of life that continues to speak through every knot.
