A Sumak in Josheghan design Number 45751 (138x198)

The charm of this fantastic piece is enhanced by its beautiful texture. The weaving technique, called sumak weaving (Read about Sumak), is complex, allowing weavers to create intricate patterns like that of this rug. The additional wefts that run beneath the colourful yarns that form the face make this rug sturdier than other flatweaves.

This rug is the work of the weavers around the town of Mirzapur in India in a design inspired by the Persian Josheghan carpets.

Material: Wool on cotton.
