A Ziglar design Mahal rug, No. 163535-299x201cm

To achieve optimal harmony, a designer must have a solid understanding of weaving, dyeing, and the properties of the yarn intended for use. Alternatively, a director must be involved to coordinate the efforts of all masters involved, ensuring the best possible result.

This rug is a perfect example of such collaboration. The designer has provided the naqsha (draft on graph paper), drawing inspiration from 19th-century Ziglar designs and choosing a refined colour palette. The spinner has supplied beautifully handspun wool, and the dye-master has worked with natural dyes to ensure the most suited material for the project. All of these elements were then expertly woven by the village weaver, whose craftsmanship has brought the piece to life.

The result is a stunning rug made to last gracefully for decades. It demonstrates the combined expertise and impeccable taste of the creators while offering the owner a source of pride and timeless beauty.
